Make your Will this October

Make your Will this October and support mental health in Scotland

SAMH is thrilled to announce a limited time offer, thanks to our long-term supporter, Lindsays. This October, you can make or update your Will with Lindsays in exchange for a donation to SAMH.

How do I take up this offer?

Use the link below to fill out a short form, quoting 'SAMH Wills Month' in your message, and a solicitor at Lindsays will get back to you to begin your Will.

Alternatively, you can call Lindsays on 0808 141 5303 to arrange next steps over the phone. You can also email them at samhwill@lindsays.co.uk

The whole process can be done remotely, so you don’t need to live near a Lindsays office to take advantage of this. If you submit the form in October, you'll still be eligible for the offer even if your Will is finalised after the month ends.

How do I donate to SAMH in exchange for my Will?

Once your Will is finalised, Lindsays will send you a link to make a secure donation to SAMH. We are suggesting a £200 donation for a single Will or £300 for a pair of mirror Wills, but you can give however much you wish. All donations will go towards providing life-changing mental health support for people across Scotland.

This offer is only active during October, so reach out to Lindsays soon!

Why make a Will?

Unfortunately, many people assume they don’t need a Will or don’t need one yet.

As a rule of thumb, if you have any savings at all, property, children under 16 or dependants, or simply want to protect your loved ones from a legacy of stress or possible legal disputes, a Will should be firmly on your agenda.

You can avoid uncertainty or nasty surprises for those you love, and protect the rights and finances of children, partners or extended family.

What can I do with a Will?

You can leave money, property or specific items. You can specify a percentage to go to charity (even 1% could make a massive difference to their work). Overall, the purpose is to ensure your loved ones are taken care of, and your wishes respected.

If you have any questions about the process of making a Will, Lindsays will be happy to advise you.

Finally, if you’re interested in leaving a legacy to SAMH as part of your Will, please reach out to our Individual Supporter Manager, Catriona, at catriona.boyce@samh.org.uk . She would be delighted to help with any questions and to thank you.
